Bread and Butter Pickles

Ingredients:

4 quarts cucumbers, sliced

1 green pepper, sliced

6 medium onions, sliced

1/3 cup coarse salt

5 cups sugar

3 cups white vinegar

3 Tablespoons mustard seed

1 & 1/2 teaspoons turmeric

Directions:

Slice vegetables and combine with salt.

Cover with ice cubes and let stand 3 hours.

Drain well and add sugar, white vinegar, mustard seeds, celery seeds, and turmeric.

Bring pickles to a boil.

Seal in sterilized jars and boil in a water bath for 10 minutes.

Chill before serving.
