Candied Walnuts

This recipe is from, "The Nut House", via Aunt Mae. Pre-WWII found her living in Redding, CA. A friend took her on an outing to the family nut orchards and warehouse where she was given this recipe. Enjoy!!

Ingredients:

1 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

6 tablespoons canned milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups walnuts

Directions:

Turn burner on high heat. Mix dry ingredients into small cast iron skillet. Add milk. Turn burner down to medium-high heat and place skillet on it. Cook ingredients to soft ball stage.

Remove from heat. Add vanilla.

Fold in heaping 2 cups of walnuts with slotted spoon until they loose their sheen.

Tun onto wax paper and separate with fork.
