Snickerdoodles

This recipe has been a favorite in our family for as long as I can remember. My brother Kris requests them at Christmas.

Ingredients:

1 cup shortening, part butter

1 & 1/2 cups sugar

2 eggs

2 & 3/4 cups Flour

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 teaspoon Baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon


Method:

Heat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly.

Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.

Stir together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.

Blend into shortening mixture.

Form in 1 inch balls.

Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet.

Bake 8-10 minutes.

Note: They turn out best undercooked rather than overcooked.
